Nyet! Nyet! Nyet!

Did I want to get up this morning? Nyet!
Did I want to do pullups? Nyet!
Did I enjoy having my arms whipped by the jump rope on double-unders? Nyet!
Did I do all those things anyway? Da!

Our workout this morning included Russian step-ups (hooray!), Russian swings (which I don't totally love and really, really don't totally love when performed with a 35-lb. dumbbell because all of the 16kg kettlebells were already taken by the time I finished setting up my Russian step-up station 'cause my legs are too short to just use the regular box like a normal person), and a bunch of other yucky stuff. See?

  1. I have the same mental conversation almost everyday. I'm doing the 100 day burpee challenge to overcome my hate for them. Everyday I say, "I'm not going to do them today" and everyday I end up doing them despite myself.

  2. Melisa! The entire time I was getting dressed this morning, I kept thinking, "I'm not going." Congratulations on your burpees!

  3. can you explain some of these movements? Or is there a website that will explain them? Partner pullups, Russian step ups, they sound chock full of excitement and intrigue!

  4. Hey, Audrey.

Russian step-ups: step up with right foot, lift left knee and drive up to hip height... repeat. This video demonstrates the feet correctly, but her posture is terrible (http://capitalregion.ynn.com/content/health/tone_up/490440/-em-tone-up--em---russian-step-ups/). Abs in right, chest tall, hands on hips.

    Have fun!
