I devoted a post to my favorite mixing bowl earlier this year, and if I was going to recommend one kitchen gadget for foodies, it would be a Kickass Mixing Bowl™. A good bowl is like a good friend: right there before you know you need it, ready for whatever's in your hands or on your mind, and durable enough to stand up to whatever you dish out.

And it's hard to go wrong with a basic kitchen workhorse like this 8-quart stainless steel number. It reminds me of the bowls in my dad's restuarant when I was a kid.
Of course, the sentimental favorite is my Sitti bowl, part of the Pyrex primary colors set. I got myself the set on eBay a few months ago, and I use those bowls every day. The large yellow is perfect for mixing large salads like Cranberry Waldorf, green is perfect for mixing up a batch of paleo egg foo yung, red comes in handy for cucumber and olive salad, and blue is ideal for tuna mixed with homemade mayo.
Find your set on eBay.
I had to leave you a comment to let you know I love how you posted the recipe you make in each bowl. I love me some retro Pyrex stuff too, reminds me of my mom's kitchen growing up. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those pyrex bowls. I remember using them to make Christmas cookies when I was growing up. I still have a couple of those bowls.
ReplyDeleteThere's something so badass and old school about these pyrex bowls. The color is chipped off some of mine in a few spots, and it just makes me love them more... like they have battle scars!
