5-inch wide belts are only allowable as superwoman/heroine fodder, and/or when representing the mod spies of this world. in any other instance, they are. so. not. ok.
I actually like peep toe booties. Not these, but DSW has some that I would definitely wear (along with the brown suede ones already in my closet. LOL) I know people who can totally pull of the peep toe booties or the 5-inch wide belt. Every year the fashion industry comes out with what they think everyone else should be wearing. Some of it works for normal people, some of it doesn't - i.e., harem pants...EWW!
I think its a matter of personal style. If my ankle wasn't jacked up, I'd probably have on a pair right now. But...I do draw the line at Hammer pants...LOL

Perhaps the pedicure industry hyped up this peep toed eyesore?
