From June 1 through June 30, I'm participating in the Whole30 clean-up/change your life/heal thyself plan. (Here's why.)
Oh, man! It's like WholeGrouchy instead of Whole30 this week. Sorry, gang. I generally pride myself on not whining too much. Bitching? HELL, YES! But I try to keep the whining to a minimum. WARNING: This post is chock full of whining. I just don't feel like candy-coating how totally craptastic this week is turning out to be. I can only hope that either your week is going better or that if yours is crappy, too, I'm helping you laugh at it a little.
Training
Wednesday = rest day. But no sleeping in for me this morning (major FAIL) – I had to be at work for an 8:00 a.m. client conference call. This makes me a frowny-face girl.
Food
Yesterday was "eat on the run" day. I ate breakfast (sweet potatoes and chicken breast) in the car on the way home from the gym... lunch at my desk while writing a document (chopped BBQ pork, cabbage, coconut oil, half an apple)... snack standing in a conference room discussing the work that's due today (green pepper strips, olives, two pork meatballs)... another snack while typing at my desk (snap peas, chicken sausage, cucumber, olives)... and dinner – everybody say it with me – while typing (chicken thighs, snap peas, cabbage, coconut oil, blackberries with coconut milk). At least that last typing+food adventure was on the couch at home instead of the desk at the corporate overlords'.
And rounding out the feeding fun, this morning, I inhaled my breakfast (broccoli, Scotch egg) in the conference room here at work, listening in on the conference call that required me to be here, yet in no way engaged me in the conversation. FAN.TAS.TIC.
Sleep
I worked until 10:00 p.m. last night, then did my best to follow the pre-sleep ritual. Knocked out around 11:00 and slept until 6:30 this a.m. Slept like a rock except for being awakened once by the raging storm (then I saw this image at Someone Once Told Me... cute).
An Attempt at a Positive Wrap-Up
I have zero doubt that eating totally kickass, clean food is helping me weather my fractured life and out-of-control work week. My thinking is clear. My sleep is mostly sound. My skin looks great. My clothes fit like a dream. Workouts feel "normal hard" not "can't do them hard." It's all working. Life's just using me as a kickball right now. Good thing I can roll!
Thinkin' you want to take better care of yourself? Here are some guidelines you might find helpful.
I have to say, that even though life is sucking right now, knowing that you are doing all this with far greater things on your shoulders is helping me keep to my commitment to eat right and take care of myself in some very busy and stressful times. You are one seriously strong gal, and I look forward to actually meeting you someday to tell you so in person!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amber! I look forward to meeting you, too. We'll lift heavy things!
ReplyDeleteI did not hear any whining. Rock on.
ReplyDeleteAT22, thanks for turning a deaf ear :-)
ReplyDeleteLove you! And acknowledging the crappy times is NOT the same thing as whining. What you're doing is showing how you can have bad things happen and still make good choices. That's a huge accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteMelissa, you should give yourself props too for keeping up with your blog! Your posts have been numerous and good quality.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are going through all this terrible-ness, but I am inspired reading about how you are coping.
OK. You guys are being WAY too nice to me... which is just going to encourage me to indulge in being disgruntled more often.
ReplyDeleteBlake, I love you back. And Mary, thank you for the props. Truly.
