Prague POD: August 18

In September, Dave and I are going on a 2-week holiday to Prague. I'm going to eat a dumpling (and a strudel), wear a black leather jacket, and walk on cobblestones. I've been asked so many times, "Why Prague?" that I've decided to show you.

It's the Prague Photo of the Day (POD).

When I tell people who've been there that I'm going to Prague, the reaction is always the same. They sigh. They look wistful. And then they say some variation of "Prague is magical."

I'm not at all religious, but I am very superstitious and, under the right circumstances, can totally give myself over to the idea of magic.

Dave recently read a novel by Michal Ajvaz called The Other City that paints Prague as unpredictable  and surreal...
In Ajvaz's first novel to be translated into English, a Borgesian cohort of freakish creatures, talking birds and eccentric city dwellers lurk on the margins of an alternative Prague. An unnamed protagonist learns that a book written in an unearthly language is an opening to a dangerous world that is just around the corner from normal life... he is pursued by weasels, shot at by a helicopter and nearly eaten by a half-man, half-shark.
Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, mysterious strangers, unusual experiences, statues that whisper secrets... I'm ready for all of them.

  1. Hey Melicious,
I love your blog (found it though the whole9). I find you quite inspiring and love reading your posts! It is a rare to find women who believe strong is sexy and have confidence to match. As a crossfitter and paleo eater working in the fitness industry, I come across a lot of resistance and find support from people like you. Thanks!

Have a Fabulous trip and watch out for monsters!

  2. Wow! What a sweet comment. Thanks so much, Kate! I love the circle of good vibes on my blog... I get a lot of inspiration and support from all of you -- and I'm glad to know my stories help you, too.

I will definitely keep an eye out for monsters and be prepared to (a) sprint away as fast as possible or (b) use my clean + wall ball skills to hoist a huge rock at the monster's head.
