But that made us later for our workout. And the waterworks almost started again when we got to Zilker Park, and I can thisclose to bailing on our workout entirely. Then I yelled at Dave (!), pouted some, and finally decided to just do the f*cking workout.
Very mature and well-adjusted.
Once we got down to business, the workout was a good one. Our location was perfect: we went north through Zilker for the running part of the workout and had a lovely, grassy spot in the shade under a big ol' tree for the middle section of the workout.
For time:What a beast! I loved it, but this was a workout that fought back. Talk about relentless!
- Run 1 mile
- 100 pushups
- 200 situps
- 300 squats
- Run 1 mile
My time: 41:40
Then we hiked up the greenbelt to Taco Deli for breakfast and talked some more about my diet, my attitude, my body. I might have been ranting, but the squirrels and trees didn't seem to mind.

Big hugs of thanks to Dave (a.k.a., the rock) and to the rest of you sweeties who've been sending me words of encouragement and support. I'm a fortunate girl, and you are best-quality friends.
Here's to Dave and to a great workout time. That was a beast. And by the looks of it, you still had the Spartan spirit lurking somewhere deep inside you. It ain't going anywhere...even if you have a "meltdown". Now can you give me some?? :P
ReplyDeleteErin is right - with a great name comes great wisdom! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou've got the Spartan spirit. It's just that some days it takes longer to tap into than others... keep on keeping on!
Um, I fail to see how that workout and the lack of Spartan spirit go together, at all.
ReplyDeleteThank you, support team! I'm feeling significantly better today... amazing what a kickass workout and some good protein will do for a girl :-)
ReplyDeleteBernie, my body was doing the workout, but my attitude SUCKED, hence the "lack of Spartan spirit." Love to you in Mexico!
