For me, the key to making dino-chow work is lots of planning and eating the same food combos a lot. But every once in a while, I feel rebellious. I want to taste something new or something I haven't eaten in a while. That's when it's important to either find new recipes or try new foods. (I've had a can of sardines in the cabinet, waiting for me to see if I like them. I LOVED them as a kid on buttered toast, but I don't remember the last time I ate one as an adult.)
Every week, when the Farmhouse Delivery basket arrives, I'm confronted with surprises and sometimes, veggies I've never tried. It was one of those weekly deliveries that introduced me to a new favorite: fennel. (Sliced and sauteed with garlic and olive oil, it's sublime.)
Falling into a rut that leaves your tastebuds uninspired can lead to cravings and resentment and thoughts about foods that are just not going to do anything good for you. Are you in a produce rut? I challenge you to eat at least one new veggie or fruit this week... and try to sample from a few color groups. There's a whole world of beautiful veggies and fruits out there, just waiting to jump into your tummy.
