A few months ago, Bonita invited the members of her workout tribe to submit namesake workouts and today we took on the workout I created from things I like to do. As usual, the resulting workout was harder than I intended when I daydreamed it into existence.
This workout is proof that I actually have no idea how far 50m is. Eyeballing the track, we realized the bear crawl should actually be 25m instead. Whew!
Full disclosure: I took many rest breaks. My wackadoodle sleeping habits right now are messing with my workouts a bit, but I finished all five rounds with full range of motion on everything... even though I really, really wanted to cupcake on some of the pushups. For the last round, I did step-ups on the 36-inch box, and that was way, way harder than jumping on the 20".
My time: 28:38
We finished with a lap around the track holding dumbbells in the overhead, locked-out position. I used two 10-lb. dumbbells. Trust me: that's so much harder than you think it's going to be. Try it sometime!
(Re-reading this I realize I keep mentioning how hard everything was. It really was!)
For the record, I never, not even for a second, thought that this WOD would NOT be hard. And, these are your favorite movements!? Ugh!!! One day, I may throw this is in the mix for you...but, it will not be with enthusiasm... :) I'm a power clean, kettlebell, burpee kinda gal, myself...
ReplyDeleteYes, those are some of my favorite things... Box jumps because they used to scare the crap out of me and now I jump on stuff pretty regularly... Sprawls because they always seem easier than burpees then aren't (I know it's weird, but I like that they're tricky like that.)... Pushups because when I started CrossFit, they seemed impossible and now I can do some pretty ones before I get too fatigued... and Bear Crawl because it's fun and because my nickname for my husband is Bear.
